Maryland postal worker caught on camera kicking, throwing packages. ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — Imagine having your packages thrown and kicked by a U.S. Postal Service worker. That’s what happened recently in a suburban Annapolis neighborhood, and it was all captured on a Ring doorbell camera. “In the video you see the driver come about halfway up my little sidewalk, throw the package, the bat, onto the lower step of the stoop, and then had another package in her hand and came down around down to my neighbor’s side of the driveway and throw the package and give it a little kick to get it closer to the door.” Albensi says the driver in the video was not the usual mail carrier for his neighborhood, so we don’t know who she is. We wanted to show the Ring surveillance to the USPS and get some answers. But a spokesperson denied our request for on-camera interview, declined to say if they have identified the worker, and even refused to say if they have ever seen the video. In a written statement, the spokesperson said: “The Postal Service condemns, in the strongest possible sense, behavior that jeopardizes the security and sanctity of the U.S. Mail or threatens to tarnish the reputation and high level of trust that the vast majority of our employees work so hard to uphold.” The statement also says the USPS is investigating the incident. The Postal Service would not confirm for 7News if they have seen the video. COVID-19 has hit the Postal Service hard. According to this USPS report, on-time mail deliveries are far below target goals, and many people have complained to 7News they have waited weeks to receive their mail and packages. We repeatedly contacted the National Association of Letter Carriers Union and asked to show them the video. But they have not gotten back to us. So, without answers from the USPS and the National Association of Letter Carriers, we do not know who the carrier is or why she threw and kicked the package. Albensi says letter carriers may be overworked. He’s not sure if COVID-19 is the reason. But he is sure about one thing. “It’s not an excuse for throwing packages. The mail that is being delivered should be taken better care of, that is true.” We checked, and thankfully nothing in the packages was broken.
